The environment. Another thing that’s handy to have.
We’re big fans of the environment. We’re especially fond of breathing, and we think it’s silly to do anything that makes it harder—like, for instance, unnecessarily pumping Volatile Organic Compounds into the air. Also, we like not getting fried by UV rays or having our houses washed away by rising sea waters.
We really do mean that.
So we’re hot on things like sustainable papers and inks. Fortunately, there’s a simple way to do that: we look for organisations with FSC & ISO 14001 accreditation. Despite their unfortunately boring names, what they do is really powerful.
FSC
The Forest Stewardship Council is an international organisation that promotes responsible forest management. To become an FSC-certified company you have to have an audited system for tracing, verifying and labelling timber and wood products that come from sustainably managed FSC-certified forests. This is not a process for wimps.

ISO 14001
This standard sets out the requirements of an environmental management system. That’s a formal way of saying that if you’ve got ISO 14001 certification, you’ve jumped through some tough environmental hoops.
